Camp Anawana Memories, Dictenberg - Emrer

Joey Dictenberg, Camper 87-92  Memories: I remember all the pretty girls, the first love of my life.  All my close friends that I never spoke a day to once camp closed.  Ray Zarr's picture in Busby's.  Dancing with Terry.  Thinking every nite at 11 when I was 12 that this would be the night I got laid.  Nature walks with Uncle Leon.  There are too many things to recall.  I will never be that happy again for the rest of my life.  Comments: I wish Steven Lillien would contact me.  I always wonder how my buddy is doing.  Sorry to see Amy Koppelman got married.

Andrea Dinar, Camper Memories: Too many great memories to list

Tracy Dublirer, Camper, CIT, Waitress 1982-1986 Memories: Best summers of our lives.  Greatest friendships made.  The Falls, Roark's and watching lots of basketball.

Stefani Dubrow Memories: Couldn't fit them in those end of season wills ... not gonna fit them here.  Comments: Where'd everyone go?

Tara Dubrow Memories: There's just not enough words... Comments: Michael Ost once told me after running into him on the street that camp friends are like no other.  A million years pass and it's just like yesterday.  You are truly excited to run into Anawanians anywhere.  I wish I got to run into you guys a whole lot more.  I loved those days.

Ali Edelblum, Camper 89-92  Memories: I was in the youngest group at Anawana.  Camp sisters (my real sister), all the silly ghost stories the older campers told us, sing and color war...fake breaks were the best.  Comments: I never got to appreciate camp while I was there, but Anawana changed my life and my whole family around.  My parents both worked there and my stepfather also.  Anawana changed my life for the better.  Contact: Erin Magner, Marty Schulman, Jaime Herdan.

Lauren Edelblum, Camper  Comments: Came upond this page playing around - I could not believe there was an Anawana page.  How amazing!   Well, camp Anawana really changed my life (along with my sister-Ali).  My mom Randi worked in arts and crafts, with my "now" stepdad Steve.  My 2 step brothers Zac

Lauran Edelman, Camper 1977-1980  Memories: I most vividly remember singing through everything.  Girls SING, color war SING, dining room SINGING again!  Comments: We went to the coolest camp and I have a lot of really funny memories.

Cyd Eidelheit Greco, Camper, 1982-1988 Memories: Too  many-hanging out in the computer room with Steve Weiss (my summer father), Jerry and Larry ALWAYS mispronouncing my last name, the best color wars ever, Ray Zarr productions, dancing in front of the bunk with Lauryn Manheim, Tara Noel and Jennifer Kutsher, making blueberry pie with Uncle Leon, etc.  Comments: Those were the best summers of my life-enough said.  Contact: Want to find Tara Noel and Jennifer Kutsher.

Barry Elin, counselor 1971-1972  Memories; Finding the hatchet 2 years in a row in color war.  Karbel quarter time.

Matt Emrer camper (1970-1973) with Howie Heicklen, Ken, etc.  Memories: starring in "You're a good man Charlie Brown", South Pacific, Annie Get your Gun, winning the AIT against huge Center.  Watching men walk on the the moon for the first time on a small B and W in the food hall at night (July 1970?)  Comments: Sending my daughter for the first time made me think make my fun.  If Joey Ehrlich, Steve Karmel or Jerry Ferstmello read this, please let me know, think I've seen Steve's name in the Dix Hills area.

Janis Faitelson, Camper & Staff Comments: My name was on the missing list of a different website no longer in existence ... maybe you all combined... 1960-1968 camper - worked in office last year ... am a pack rat .... have all the yearbooks from 63-68... have photos from all those years... many from when I was a CIT... probably 66 or 67... have several color war books too...camp, best summers of my life!!!  probably the worst athlete in the camp... first memory 1960 color war was St. Louis Blues - we were all in blackface for sing against Tropical Orange... Jerry Parker worked at Kutsher's CC and was dating my counselor Beverly... next year 61 was Jerry's 1st at Anawana... have bunk pics 3  of them and 1960 pix Pajama Game... sad that Jerry passed away... however Larry please write... we all lived in the same apt. house in Bklyn..., Mady - we were always in the same bunk for the few years you went to camp... Ike Tawil, we used to go to Camp Rarmah at nite...my boyfriend at the time went there... know I have pix of the Slevins, Skid Faber, Peter Rosen & much more... anyway, if anyone reads this, please contact me... thanks, Janis  Would like to find: Larry Parker, Mady Kutcher or anyone that remembers me...

Jason Feld, Counselor and Division Leader, 1970-1980 Comments:  Just one of the best experiences for a kid growing up in New York.  Sure miss Jerry and all those I grew up with at camp!   Gale and I talk about camp to our kids all the time (Michael and Sara).  We took them there recently to visit.  They were amazed.  Anyone you would like to contact?  Anyone that would like to say hi.

Carolyn Fershtman 14 crazy years, camper and counselor   Memories: All ofit: Nimbus over yonder hill, girls sing, color war sing, crying a lot the last night of camp every year, Brahmin meetings, Roark's, Lazy Day   Most Admired alumni: my buddies Helaine Berkowitz, Lois Porcelaiin, Renee Ofner, Liz Brickman, Lori Kahn, Debbie Flachs, Margie Karmel, Kathy Kenvin, Michelle Pianin, Eddie Rose, Bruce Hagen, Sandy Horowitz, Michelle Resnick of blessed memory, counselors: Shelly Lazar the best!  Jeff Slevin rocks.

Craig Fetterman Camper and Waiter, 1987-1991 Memories: Color War, midnight raids, climbing in the rafters, Champion sweatshirts, trying to elude Myron, staying up all night, ice skating & roller-skating & bowling (Kiamesha Lanes!), capsizing the sailboats, stealing Jerry's golf cart (yes, it was me), cookouts.  Comments: I'm glad to see all these names from my pst.  I look forward to attending a bar night in NYC.

 

Scott Fetterman, Camper, waiter, counselor, waiter counselor 1982-1992 Memories: Too many to mention but wow do I appreciate all that FREE golf at the hotel every afternoon  Comments: I would love to hear from my friends, counselors, and campers.

 

Claudine Chloe Fields-Heger Group Leader 1990-closing Memories: So many!  My trailer and the mice.  Melissa Diamond, Tiffany and Debra- some of my great counselors.  Watching taped episodes of 90210 on rainy days.  Color War, sing, evening entertainment.  Nights at the staff house... Is someone f****** iin here?! Anyone you would like to contact?  Anyone who wants to chat.

 

Marc Fink, I think around 8 years, half as camper and half as a counselor  Memories: The numerous friendships, some of which continue to the present, that I made.  Other than that, I remember daylong basketball games, color war and laughter.

Mitchell Flick Counselor and Group Leader 1981-1983  The greatest summers of my life  would love to have one more year!

Jackie Frank CIT, Waitress and Counselor 1981-1986 Memories: Singing a duet with "Goldy" (Steven Goldstein) in Annie Get Your Gun.  Days off with the MAG 7 at the Falls and having my campers (Tracy, Ellen, Ruby, Stephanie and Cindy) take me on late night raids!  Comments Camp Anawana days were the best!

Lisa Futterman Robins camper, waitress and counselor  Memories: Best times-I wish we could all go back!   So many to remember-it was a blast!  Waitress summer was the best.  Comments: You guys porbably remember my brother Adam "futt" - counselor for a few years.  He is still really close with Mike Ost, Evan Cohen and Craig Schlanger.   Thanks Nicole Sumber for the great pictures- they brought back memories.  Who would you like to contact?  Hi to all my bunkmates and friends, especially the Herdans, Billie, Amy Rosenbluth, Stephanie Proper, and my campers too!


Mattehew Gaer, Camper 78-80  Memories: Jerry Parker - riding in the golf cart pelting all of us with candy.  The gobstoppers usually would leave a mark!!  AIT VICTORY - Followed by trips to Kutsher's, Brooks and Jerry Gold teaching us how swim in the crib at the lake.  Day before visiting day  Comments: Any large reunions coming up?  Anyone you would like to contact?  Adam Slutsky, Billy and Paul Freilich - the best counselors.

Linda Garfine-Kass Camper 1962-1966 Memories: Being a CIT with other bunk mates; Susan Landman, Susan Kevel, Arlene Cherkin, Linda Fishbein, etc.

Elise Gerber Roberts 12 years as camper and counselor (for seniors and waitresses) Memories: my friends, my girls, fun times in the bunks, camp plays, the list is endless... so many, but the most recent is being a counselor to my great girls and having so much fun with them - being looked up ot for guidance and advice, yet having just as much fun as if I were a camper myself.  Most admired alumni: Jerry of course, Brooks, Jerry Gold, Larry, Bonnie and Arlene, all my girls (they know who they are!), Artie, Pekor, Spiels, Dan & Brett, and countless others I am forgetting.  Who are you in contact with?  Now that this site has started, I keep in touch with everyone!

Saul Gevarter, Camper & Counselor (1980-1986) Memories: Beating Dan Tawil, Michael Mintz & David Sherman for All-around Camper Decathlon.  Turning off my hearing aid when JP was bawling our group for using profanity language.  Anyone you would like to contact?  Anyone who remembers me.

Bobby Glassman, Camper 1972-1977 Memories: Harvey Knopman getting fired during Color War for putting someone in a swim relay who couldn't swim.

Steven Glassman, Camper, Counselor '72-'74, 76-80.  Memories: Great counselors, learned about sports, life, success and defeat.  Great intercamps.  Hoping to sweep Roosevelt.  AIT.  Shows with Slevin and Rosenthal.  Color war: The anticipated break.  Colorful characters: Brooks, Jerry Gold, The Parker Brothers, Gil Fershtman, Doug Pearl, Norman Schulman, Irv Resnick... Winning the all around camper award.  Socials and the prom.  I could go on and on.

Robin Goldberg, Camper and Waitress  Memories: The best time of my life!!  Are you out there Brett and Jason??? Anyone you would like to contact? Brett Offsink and Jason Schwartzberg

Tracie Goldman I think the website is great and brought back wonderful memories for me.  I was only at Anawana in 1991 and 1992.  My brother Brian used to go to camp too and my mom Randy worked as a group leader.  They are both doing well.

Susan Goldstein, Camper, CIT 1971, 1972, 1977  Memories: My best memories were becoming Brahmin, winning "All Around Athlete" award 1972, being in "The Pajama Game", John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt, Gussie and the Bimmy Shack, "all Anawana boats in!", AIT Volleyball, Color War, discovering the Cowboys and Indians banners with Sari Wilner as they were being painted in the Sherwood field house and having JP put the fear of god in us that we might acually be struck down by lightening if we told anyone what we knew before Color War broke out!!!! Nok-hockey on rainy days, campfires, Hurleyville, Roark's Tavern, hospital corners!, getting the mumps from Helaine Berkowitz and being quarintined in the infirmary, STRAIGHT JACKET!!! (I still can't watch that movie without buggin' out!), "food waiter, waiter, waiter...", JP"s funky "do", line up, baths in the rafters (ugh!), canteen at the field house, hearing "The Seven Words You Can't Say on Television" over the loudspeakers!  And so much more... Comments: Although I wasn't at Anawana for long, it was the absolute best time of my life!  I will always remember those summers as the greatest.  Anawana was the first place I remember making deep friendships and having fun all the time with great people in a beautiful setting.  I will always treasure my Anawana memories.  Contact: I haven't kept in contact with anyone, but, would love to be in touch with anyone who remembers me!!!
